Modernising Our Living Spaces
This year we’ve given many parts of the home a wonderful refresh! Several bedrooms have been refurbished to include stylish wooden floors, modern ensuite bathrooms, and wetrooms that combine safety with contemporary comfort. These upgrades provide a more inviting, homely environment that blends individual style with practical accessibility.
Other parts of the home have also been improved with fresh finishes and better fixtures, including newly upgraded radiators in particular rooms, all designed to enhance daily living while maintaining a welcoming and comfortable feel.

A Beautiful, Bright Conservatory, A New Heart for Community Life
One of the standout investments of 2025 has been the full refurbishment of our conservatory, a space that has quickly become a favourite for our residents. With a new roof, updated electrics, fresh paint, and comfortable new seating, it’s now a bright, airy and spacious room filled with natural light and joy.
The conservatory opens onto our tranquil gardens, where a lovely palm tree and well-tended greenery create a peaceful backdrop. This space is more than just beautiful, it’s becoming a hub of activity. In 2026 we will host live music and entertainer performances to craft afternoons and group gatherings, our conservatory will host many events designed to bring joy, connection and fun to everyday life.

Safety and Accessibility is Always a Priority
Ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents is at the core of everything we do. In 2025 we completed:
- Scheduled lift enhancements and comprehensive safety checks to ensure continued reliability, comfort, and safety for residents and visitors
- A full five-year electrical compliance review, including new wiring where needed
- Structural improvements linking outbuildings to the main house and adding fresh new titles to the roof
- Upgrades to call systems and fire/smoke detection
- Bathroom and plumbing repairs
We also refreshed part of the downstairs toilet, installing a new disabled toilet and flooring to support better accessibility throughout the home, as well as enhanced sign posting to help guide the residents. These improvements ensure peace of mind for residents and families alike.
Enhancing Comfort and Convenience
We’ve continued to invest in areas that support daily life and the wellbeing of everyone at The Victoria Grand:
- Our kitchen now has updated worktops, new appliances and lighting, helping our staff prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals tailored to resident needs with greater ease and efficiency
- Communal spaces have been refreshed with thoughtful touches like a new Christmas tree in the hallway for the festive season and a wall-mounted TV stand, perfect for shared entertainment and activities
- Sleeping areas were improved with new bedding and mattress protectors where appropriate
- We also installed new stones to protect the lawn from car parking, helping to keep our gardens looking beautiful for everyone’s enjoyment
Residents benefit from new WIFI throughout the home, making it easier to stay connected with family, friends, and the wider world.

Life at Victoria Grand extends far beyond daily routines. Our activity programme for 2025 offered a vibrant mix of experiences that support physical, mental and social wellbeing:

- Musicians and live entertainment
- Arts & crafts sessions
- Garden outings and gentle exercise
- Seasonal celebrations, themed parties, and relaxed social gatherings
These activities help create a sense of community, connection, and purpose, encouraging residents to explore new interests and enjoy shared moments with others.

Investing in People and Processes
Our team is the heart of Victoria Grand. In 2025 we welcomed new members of the Career Team and a new Marketing Manager, whilst placing a strong emphasis on staff training, including face-to-face sessions that enhance skills and strengthen the quality of care.
In 2025, we also achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditation, internationally recognised standards that demonstrate excellence in quality management, environmental responsibility, and health and safety. ISO 9001 ensures our systems are well organised and focused on continuous improvement, helping us deliver consistent, high-quality care. ISO 14001 reflects our commitment to reducing environmental impact and operating responsibly, while ISO 45001 supports a safe and healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Together, these accreditations strengthen our management systems, enhance safety, and ensure the home is run efficiently, ethically, and to the highest professional standards.
We have also launched our brand-new website, created a new brochure and all our staff have shiny new name badges, all helping to communicate and reflect our caring home and values.

Enhancing Care Through Staff Training and Teamwork
In 2025, we made a meaningful investment in staff training to further enhance the quality of care provided at The Victoria Grand Care Home. A key development has been the additional training of our Activities Coordinator, who is now fully trained in first aid and a number of other essential training courses for working in a care home environment.
This enhanced training allows her to confidently support residents during breakfast and lunchtime, assisting with meals and general wellbeing. By providing this additional support at key points in the day, our care team is able to dedicate more time to one-to-one care, ensuring residents receive personalised attention tailored to their individual needs.
This collaborative approach strengthens our care model, allowing residents to benefit from both engaging activities and enhanced personal support throughout the day. It also ensures continuity of care, as residents are supported by familiar and trusted team members who understand their routines, preferences, and wellbeing.
Importantly, this development has created greater care capacity within the home, meaning more carers are available when residents need them most. By expanding the skills within our team, we are enhancing flexibility, improving responsiveness, and raising the overall standard of care we provide.
