Deputy Manager - Full Time

We are looking for a Deputy Manager (Full Time) for the Victoria Grand Care Home, they will support the manager to ensure the smooth running of the service complying with relevant regulations and procedures. The role is for 36 hours a week across 7 days a week to include weekends (dependant on rota). We will also need you to be part of the on call rota.

  • Shifts include 8am-2pm and 2pm 8pm or 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am
  • Work on the floor – 30 hours per week – might change due to the needs of the home
  • Undertaking the Governance of the home by assisting the home manager to do audits etc – 6 hours per week
  • Share of the on-call responsibilities as part of the Deputy Manager role, which may mean to come in and work a shift. If you come in you will be paid for coming in and covering a shift
  • To work at least two shift – 6 hour shifts every other weekend
  • Work closely with the Registered Manager and other members of the home to ensure continuity of information, standards and policies are effectively implemented.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively with the staff team, families and other professionals to ensure that the residents receive the best possible provision of care
  • Ensuring that all staff receive regular supervisions and adhere to the policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring resident’s individual care plans to ensure that the key workers have identified the physical, social and emotional needs of a person and updating care plans
  • Assessing new residents to come in the home – which could be any day of the week
  • Be part of the home that works towards getting the outstanding rating for our residents

Applicant Criteria:

  • Minimum 1 years as a Deputy Manager is essential
  • NVQ Level 3/Diploma in Adult Workforce Level 3, preferably Level 5
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A can do attitude to improve the home and a desire to improve the home to the highest level
  • Good planning skills
  • Commitment to own professional and personal development
  • Clean driving license (desirable but not essential)

Pay: £30,000.00 per year

Assistant Team Leader / Senior Carer - Full Time

At the Victoria Grand Care Home in Worthing we are currently recruiting for a Assistant Team Leader.

As an Assistant Team Leader you will be expected to support the team leader on shift that day. As an Assistant Team Leader, you will be the other contact point for team members, so your communications skills should be excellent. You should be able to support the team leader and to act proactively to ensure smooth team operations and effective collaboration. Ultimately, you should lead by setting a good example and engage the team to achieve goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
  • Oversee day to day operations. Ensure all care notes are written and are up to date. All charts (Fluid, Bowel and Topical Cream charts) are recorded before staff leave shift. ·
  • Motivate team members.
  • Listen to team members feedback and resolve any issues.

Other Duties:

  • Reviewing Care plans and risk assessments and updating them on a monthly basis and typing up any changes to the care plans or risk assessments when a resident needs changes ·
  • Supporting new staff members in all aspects of their work in the home and being their mentor. Making sure that the new staff have completed their inductions, training and competency assessments
  • Carry out vital signs on residents i.e. blood pressure, temperatures, oxygen levels, pulse etc. – monthly (as resident of the day) or when needed if resident is poorly and record and act on the findings ·
  • Organising the monthly weights (as resident of the day) and ensuring the details are put in the clients care plans and weight chart on the PCS system
  • Communicate to Management or Team Leader on any issues that occur at time of happening or report any issues at end of shift prior to handover
  • Be able to administer medication and be signed off as competent to then be a Bank Team Leader if needed, to step in or to assist the Team Leader with medication rounds.

General Requirements:

In addition to the above, there are some general requirements that apply to all jobs in the Home:

  • Take responsibility for the safeguarding of adults and follow the Home’s Whistle Blowing Policy as required
  • To ensure residents living in the home are always treated with respect and dignity emphasising their independence and supporting them as individuals
  • Participation in staff meetings. · Participation in quality assurance systems
  • Take responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of developments in the field of caring for older people.

All duties must be carried out to comply with:

  • Notification of Accidents and other Health and Safety requirements
  • Statutory Legislation in particular the COSHH and Hygiene regulations
  • Nationally and locally agreed codes of good practice.
  • Fire precautions and Equal Opportunity and the Home’s anti-discriminatory policy
  • Health and Safety: To be responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of anybody else who may be affected by your acts or omissions
  • Data Protection: At all times respect the confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act. This includes, if required to do so, obtain, process and/or use information held on a computer in a fair and lawful way, to hold data only for the specified registered purposes and to use or disclose data only to authorised persons and organisations as instructed.

  • To not wear any type of jewellery that could give rise to danger of discomfort to the residents.
  • Must have knowledge of end of life routines and procedures
  • Must have knowledge of fire procedures

  • Is able to problem solve and have decision making skills
  • To wear the company uniform at all times whilst on duty
  • To keep the company uniform clean and in good repair, and agree to hand it over in good order before leaving the company’s employment.

Activities Co-ordinator - Weekends

Victoria Grand is a warm and welcoming residential care home located in Worthing, just a short walk from the seafront. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Activity Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis.

Hours:

  • 14 hours per week
  • Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00am – 4:00pm
  • 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day

About the Role:
As an Activity Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, meaningful activities that enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents. Activities may include games such as Monopoly or dominoes, quizzes, supporting residents with breakfast or drinks, organising outings using the minibus, or accompanying residents on walks, including visits to the beach.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Activity Coordinator, ideally within a residential care setting
  • A friendly, creative, and inclusive approach, with the ability to engage people of different ages, interests, and backgrounds
  • A strong team player who can build positive relationships with residents and colleagues
  • Confidence to think creatively, try new ideas, and develop innovative activities
  • Willingness to learn new skills when required
  • Computer literacy is essential, as you will be expected to document activity plans, record ideas, and maintain daily progress notes for residents
