Visiting Care Home Arrangements

We love to see families visiting our care home. However, due to the risk of COVID infection, we need to comply with Government guidelines for the safety of our residents, visitors and staff.

For more information on our visiting arrangements, contact us and like us on Facebook.

Indoor visits

If you would like to book an indoor visit, you will need to prearrange this with the home. Please phone the home and book in a visit. All clients are allowed, under Government guidance, one named visitor, unless the client is deemed end of life. Speak to the home to discuss the end of life guidance. After you have arranged your visit, please come to the home at the arranged time. You will be tested using rapid lateral flow tests before every visit. We will provide the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and you must follow all other infection control measures, which we will guide you on. There should be no close physical contact such as hugging, however you are allowed to hold hands. If your lateral flow test is positive, then you will not be allowed access to the home, and you will need to comply with the current self-isolation rules.

With effect from 8 April 2021, the number of regular visitors allowed will be increased to two.

Why Visiting Care Homes is Important

It's important for families to visit care homes for a number of reasons. Firstly, it helps residents feel more connected to their loved ones and gives them a sense of support. Regularly seeing a loved one in a care home makes their experience far more enjoyable and comfortable. The more our home feels like their own, hence the better their experience becomes. Having family come to visit is just one way of achieving this.

Additionally, visiting allows families to keep an eye on the care their relative is receiving and make sure they're happy with the arrangements. At The Victoria Grand, we stay in regular communication with families of residents. By coming to visit and talking with us directly, we can therefore ensure your loved one is receiving the care they deserve.

Finally, regular visits can help prevent feelings of loneliness and isolation among residents. This is incredibly important in maintaining our residents' mental wellbeing. Family visits provide them with something to look forward to, as well as additional stimulation. Therefore, family visits ensure your loved ones stay stimulated and happy.
